Rectangular majolica box with a slightly rounded lid decorated with a large beetle modeled in bas-relief, its legs stretching across the surface, almost entirely covering the lid. The highly stylized insect is painted in vibrant polychrome tones of yellow, orange, brown, and black, with dotted and linear details, contrasting sharply with the background coated in a glossy, intensely nuanced turquoise-green glaze. Made by the A.M.A. Pesaro factory for Farmaceutici Brilli Cattarini & C.,  as documented by the inscriptions painted on the background.
