Pucci Umbertide Vase

Pucci Umbertide Vase

A majolica vase with a slightly truncated cone-shaped body, punctuated by a dense succession of horizontal ribs in relief, decorated in alternating colors with polychrome glazes in shades of copper green, white, and black. The same colors, blended with an airbrush, follow one another in vertical fields along the upper frill, which is left unribbed. The essentiality of the form, the rigorous geometric layout, and the rhythm of the color schemes reflect the rationalist language that characterized part of Italian ceramic production between the late 1930s and the post-war period.
