Double-glazed vase – Ginori

Double-glazed vase – Ginori

Porcelain vase in the shape of a baluster with handles modeled as fantastic creatures, partly dragons and partly harpies, connected with phytomorphic elements. The plastic values of the handles are enhanced by the color contrasts between the gold decorations on white, white on gold, and between matte gold and burnished gold.

On the main side of the vase, a decoration unfolds featuring two flowers, consisting of a slender frond with its leaves, berries, and two central flowers, created in pâte sur pâte and painted with gold and platinum. On the back of the vase, a solitary bird on a grass stem, highlighted in gold, stands out against the whiteness of the vase. The decoration becomes more linear and minimalist, revealing the influence of Japanese art that was common to all European manufacturers at the end of the 19th century.
